Dear Designers and Public Relations Firm,
This is the social media, and digital age of fashion. For the past 5 seasons front rows are filling in more and more bloggers and social media ‘kids’ in place of editors and the lethargic socialites of OLD! Why? because the smart and business savvy designers and firms all realize that if one wants a quick and efficient way to get the buzz out and free publicity- Bloggers and Social Media are the best means!
So when your interns and regular staff are in the front lines checking us in, please kindly remind them that not all of us are there to sneak in shows (speaking for myself), we are there to do a job and to achieve mutual benefits. I am amazed at the rudeness and disgusting behavior some of these PR teams exhibit when dealing with the public. Remember the principles of PR 101 ? Just because some of us are not in the media spotlight or celebrities, it doesn’t mean we aren’t worth your time.
In closing, and this is speaking personally, with 70 shows and events invites this season, it must mean I am doing something correctly! Not for one second do you need to approach me with nonsense, because I do not deal with it from anyone. If I am asking you to double check my invitation it does not mean I want to get a free ride, it simply means check your list to see if I am or I am NOT confirmed. Please cut back on the attitude! Remember, celebrities are great, but they wont promote your brand nor pay for your designs…I have been in the styling world to know the truth!!
As for those PR firms and designers I was fortunate enough to cover this season, thank you for doing your jobs well!! and You know who your are! (will be sending a card soon).
Sincerely,
a Fashion Blogger ..
